Texas Math Support
Problem Solving to Support TEKS & STAAR
Our differentiated, performance tasks help students develop critical thinking and reasoning skills. Material calls on students to practice and apply mathematical ways of thinking to real-world issues. Exemplars can be used for instruction, assessment and/or professional development.
Exemplars K-8 math CDs offer:
Open-ended material is designed to captivate students' interests and promote higher-level thinking and problem-solving skills.
Each math task is differentiated to include a "more accessible" and "more challenging" version.
Our standards-based math rubric supports NCTM Process Standards. The use of mathematical communication and connections are primary components.
Material is aligned to TEKS, NCTM and STEM standards as well as various math texts.
Each task includes anchor papers that demonstrate student work at the four performance levels of the Exemplars rubric. These may also be used for student self- and peer-assessment along with our student rubric.
Exemplars is a proven formative assessment tool that reflects student understanding, reasoning, achievement and growth to guide instruction and determine next steps for each individual learner.
