In this video clip, 4th grade teacher Gino Sangiuliano of the Hampden Meadows School (Barrington, RI) goes over a problem with a student. Mr. Sangiuliano's approach is to ask each student to re-tell the problem, to decide on a strategy (called an "I need to...") statement, and to walk through the steps that they used. By doing this two to three times a year, the Richer Picture portfolio can show how the student's problem-solving skills grow over time. Click here to view the video (Windows Media Player required) |
