About Math Exemplars

Exemplars math performance tasks can be used for assessment, instruction and professional development.

Math Exemplars gives both teachers and administrators a way of assessing students' problem-solving and communication skills and provides classroom-tested, real-world problems for instruction. It can be integrated into your existing curriculum to facilitate both assessment and instruction.

This young learner answers the statistics question, "What color candy heart occurs most often in your bag?" by using a bar graph to record her candy heart color data.

Exemplars rubrics define what student work meets today's standards. Exemplars Pre K-K Math provides teachers, parents and caregivers with 20 creative tasks to capitalize on this wonderful time of learning and curiosity. The differentiated material in this publication requires counting, patterning and combining of small groups of objects, as well as the description of shapes.
