The ABCs of Standards-Based Assessment and Instruction

This is an introductory or "essentials" workshop designed for those who are just becoming familiar with standards-based assessment and instruction, and Exemplars rubrics and tasks.

Participants who complete this workshop will gain an understanding of how standards fit in the classroom, how to assess student performance using rubrics and benchmark papers, how to use results to improve student performance, and how to grade and report results.

Components for all workshops include:

Using rubrics and benchmark papers to assess students
Linking assessment results to curriculum, instruction and improving performance
Identifying why students are performing at certain levels
Differentiating problems to improve assessment and reasoning
Developing methods to communicate with parents and students
