Participants at an Exemplars Institute assess sample student work.

Exemplars offers annual open-enrollment Institutes, where educators from all over the nation join us in exploring standards-based assessment and instruction using Exemplars performance material and rubrics.

Locations are determined each year in January/February and posted on our Web site. The 2008 Fall Institute will be held in Georgia.

Exemplars Institutes help schools and districts meet standards by

  • Providing practical hands-on experience using Exemplars assessment rubrics to gain a deeper understanding of why students are performing at their current levels
  • Using assessment results to help students achieve at higher levels
  • Gaining a better understanding of how multiple state-standards can be achieved using rich problem-solving or inquiry-based tasks

The Broad Agenda

  • Using Exemplars rubrics and benchmark papers to assess students' work
  • Making the link from assessment to instruction
  • Understanding the fundamentals of problem solving and strategies for implementation
  • Developing and adapting assignments for the classroom
  • Using assessment results to improve performance
  • Meeting multiple standards using challenging tasks

Whether your school/district is just getting started with Exemplars, an experienced user, or considering the implementation of the program, our Institutes provide an environment to help you meet your goal(s).

When applicable, Institute participants are eligible for graduate credit and state professional learning credit.

"This was one of the most beneficial workshops I have ever attended. It directly addressed solutions to existing district problems."
