Modeling the Standards-Based Classroom

Many teachers have said they would be better able to use Exemplars if they could observe it being implemented in their classrooms. Classroom Modeling is designed to meet these specific needs.

Classroom Modeling takes our workshops to the next level - allowing teachers to actually observe Exemplars tasks being exercised by their students in the classroom, with the instruction of an Exemplars consultant.

Components of Classroom Modeling include:

  • Questioning students about their thinking, in order to help them make connections and to communicate their reasoning, verbally and in writing
  • Differentiating instruction and assessment in the problem-solving classroom, to meet the needs of each individual
  • Helping students become better self-assessors
  • Learning to group and manage in the standards-based, problem-solving classroom
  • Utilizing Exemplars tasks for different purposes, including introducing or reinforcing content

"Students are amazed at how they can lift their levels of achievement by following the rubric and knowing what is necessary for all levels."
