Background:

Jeraldine Thompson has more than 16 years of experience in education, working as a teacher leader, principal and a teacher. She holds a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from NOVA Southeastern University in Florida. Additionally, Jeri holds two Masters of Science degrees from McDaniel College (previously Western Maryland College); one focuses on School Administration and the other on Reading.

Jeri is currently the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for grades K-12 at Times2 Academy in Providence, Rhode Island. Her responsibilities include the establishment of a cohesive spiraling curriculum in all disciplines from K-12 to match national standards, state and local assessment expectations and AAAS Project 2061 Science Literacy Benchmarks. She also develops standards-based local assessments matching the established curriculum and provides professional development for teachers in the use of the curriculum and assessments.

At present, Jeri serves on a statewide committee with the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) to help develop, implement, and provide professional development on the proficiency-based graduation requirements. She has also worked with RIDE to write and establish state Grade Level and Grade Span Expectations in the curriculum areas of science and social studies.
