Meet our Professional Development Instructors: Julia Watson-Barnett |
Julia Watson-Barnett
Primary Focus:Mathematics, grades K-8 Background:Julia Watson-Barnett has more than 30 years of experience in the field of education. Earning her Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Education, she went on to obtain a Master's of Arts degree in Reading (K-12) and a PhD in Education Leadership and Administration. Julia has experience teaching grades K-college and has worked as a regional assessment director, administrator, BOCES professional development coordinator/ presenter and an independent consultant for Nebraska, Florida, Arkansas and Colorado. Currently, Julia serves 57 school districts (40% of the state's square mileage) in Colorado as the gifted education resource specialist through the Colorado Department of Education and serves on the State Accountability Committee for Gifted Education. Additionally, Julia works in Hawaii as a consultant and staff-developer in the areas of standards implementation, data interpretation, reading/writing strategies, district restructuring, and differentiated curriculum, instruction, and assessment. |
