From the Research Desk: Mathematical Problem Solving: Its Effect on Achievement and Attitudes of Elementary School StudentsJudy Devens-Seligman is a recent PhD from the Claremont Graduate University and the principal of a Southern California school. She employed Exemplars in her doctoral research, examining the relationship between regular problem solving using Exemplars and student achievement, as well as student and teacher attitudes toward mathematics. NSTA Recommends Approves Exemplars Science CDsExemplars Best of Science K-5 and 6-8 CD-ROMs were recently reviewed by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). Both products are included in the digital and print publication NSTA Recommends, which determines the best available supplements for science teaching. Materials are reviewed by "top-flight" teachers and other science educators. Supporting Math Reform in the NYC Middle SchoolsExemplars is pleased to be working in collaboration with 200 New York City middle schools, to provide assessment and instruction material as well as professional development. |
