K–5 Material Features:
Our real world, problem-solving material is designed to engage students and develop their abilities
to reason and communicate mathematically. Exemplars tasks encourage the NCTM Process Standards.
The instructional tasks in this suite of material is differentiated to include a 'more accessible' and 'more challenging' version. There are 4 or more instructional tasks provided for each Unit or standard.
Summative assessments are provided for each Unit or standard. Anchor papers and scoring rationales are included that demonstrate what student work meets and does not meet the standard in accordance with the Exemplars assessment rubric. These are effective learning tools for students, teachers and PLCs.
Preliminary Planning Sheets serve as the teacher's guide for every task, outlining the math concepts and skills that students need to know as well as alternative strategies they may use to solve a problem. This resource helps with lesson preparation and assessing student work.
Exemplars math assessment rubric offers teachers clear guidelines for evaluating student work and providing meaningful feedback. Our assessment rubric is based on the NCTM Process Standards. Student rubrics are also included, which provide a tool for self- and peer-assessment.
