Standards-based assessment and Instruction

High-Quality Assessment and Instruction

Exemplars publishes real-world performance tasks for assessment and instruction in math, science and writing. Our material can also be used in student portfolios, to enrich staff development or as a pre- and post-test to track student progress.

Our engaging standards-based performance tasks are:

  • Effective supplements for use in Title I programs and the traditional classroom
  • Engaging for students and promote reasoning and communication
  • Differentiated at 3 levels of performance in math to meet individual learning needs
  • Aligned to state, national and Common Core standards

Rubrics and annotated anchor papers (hallmarks of Exemplars) provide Title I students with a concrete understanding of what work meets the standard and why, facilitating peer- and self-assessment. These tools also assist Title I teachers in identifying students' specific strengths and weaknesses in problem-solving, science-process and communication skills.

Our goal is to provide Title I teachers with the fundamental tools to integrate successful performance-based assessment and instruction in a user-friendly way. Doing so enables teachers to help students reach higher levels of achievement and gain greater understanding, meeting state, national and Common Core standards.

Our teacher-friendly tasks are designed to support both the Common Core and Citywide instructional expectations. GO Math! alignments are also available.

Here's What People Are Saying

"I have to admit that this workshop was PHENOMENAL... I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend this workshop with my fellow Atlanta Public Schools colleagues. Not only was it insightful and informative, but the presentation of the material covered was creatively done. She [the instructor] allowed us to make many of the activities she discussed. It seems as if both facilitators believe in the educational proverb: 'Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I understand.'"
